In this talk, presented on Nov. 7, 2017 for Solidarity Winnipeg, David Camfield offers an introduction for people unfamiliar with the history of what happened a century ago. It traces the path from a profoundly democratic overturning of the old order in 1917 to civil war and the rule of a revolutionary leadership layer to the rise of a new dominant class, ending with some thoughts about what this history means for anti-capitalists today.
David Camfield is the author of We Can Do Better: Ideas for Changing Society and a member of Solidarity Winnipeg.
