Many people on the left around the world have drawn hope from the 2005 election of Evo Morales as the first indigenous president of Bolivia. Last fall Jeff Webber (a former editor of New Socialist), who has written extensively on Bolivia over the last decade, published a critical assessment of Bolivia under Evo Morales and the MAS government: “From rebellion to reform: Bolivia’s reconstituted neoliberalism.
