G20 Protests and Role of the Police

A united broad campaign for the release of all those arrested around the G20 protests and still detained, the dropping of all charges and the defence of the right to protest is crucial. Funds have to be raised for the legal defence of people facing charges.

As people organize for this kind of solidarity, it’s also important to discuss issues raised by the G20 protests, including strategy and tactics (see the initial thoughts in Alan Sears’s article in the New Socialist webzine) and the role of the police. A short piece on the role of the police by Jeff Shantz is online here.
