FILIPINO MAOISTS TARGET OTHER LEFT CURRENTS
The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), its military arm, the New People’s Army (NPA), and its politico-diplomatic arm, the National Democratic Front (NDF) are targetting other Filipino left organizations with violence. Activists need to understand and repudiate this repugnant policy.
The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), its military arm, the New People’s Army (NPA), and its politico-diplomatic arm, the National Democratic Front (NDF) are targetting other Filipino left organizations with violence. Activists need to understand and repudiate this repugnant policy.
As a recent appeal explains, “Leading activists in the mass organisations, especially peasant organisations, have been assassinated. Leading personalities in the fight against capitalist globalization, for the cancellation of the third-world debt, and in the anti-war movement, have been singled out as “counter-revolutionaries” and “imperialist agents.””
It is vital for activists to reject the CPP-NPA-NDF’s violence against other progressive currents. Violence between currents on the Left is unacceptable. It plays into the hands of the Filipino state and imperialism. It discredits the entire radical left. This needs to be made clear to CPP-NPA-NDF supporters in Canada.
